Perfume, the Essence of Presence

Coco Chanel was once asked where one should use perfume. She replied that one should use perfume everywhere you wanted to be kissed. 

Shelley, the great British poet, looked at nature and saw kissing everywhere he looked. The fountains were kissing the rivers, the rivers were kissing the oceans, and the wind was at it as well. There was really quite a lot of kissing going on!

He used this pretext to ask why he should ever be refused a kiss. Like any scientist, he had gathered his empirical evidence and collected his arguments and presented them as a irrefutable case in his Love’s Philosophy. Here is his case:-

LOVE'S PHILOSOPHY

The Fountains mingle with the river
And the rivers with the ocean,
The winds of heaven mix for ever
With a sweet emotion;
Nothing in the world is single,
All things by a law divine
In one another's being mingle -
Why not I with thine?

See the mountains kiss high heaven
And the waves clasp one another;
No sister-flower would be forgiven
If it disdain'd its brother:
And the sunlight clasps the earth,
And the moonbeams kiss the sea -
What are all these kissings worth,
If thou kiss not me?

There is no doubt about it that Shelley presents some compelling arguments.

Shelley doesn’t mention perfume, but it is intrinsic in his philosophy.

So what are the perfumes of the moment that would send a rampant lover wild?
